ABSTRACT

The objective of this study is to show the importance that systems of production planning and control feature within an organization whether it is small, medium or large showing its historical evolution, the key concepts and theories related to the PCP, as well as the most frequently used tools and a methodology for deployment of these systems based on clear steps and goals. The study also presented results of a field research already undertaken by a researcher, showing indicators of "before" and "after" analyzing the beneficial effects that the PCP can develop within an organization. In order to achieve the proposed objective, the work was done through bibliographic research aiming at the reality of small and medium industries in addition to highlight the aspects of production planning and control in order to improve the knowledge of the industries of small and medium-sized businesses as well as academics.
