ABSTRACT

This work is part of a case study of exploratory with a qualitative approach, using non-probability sampling intentional about how the sports content (volleyball) is being taught in physical education classes at a state college of the City of Palmital. Issue of ownership: what is the vision of the ninth year of Dr. João Ferreira Neves State College students on the volleyball sport in physical education classes? It built up the theoretical discussion around education, physical education and sport volleyball, supported by publications on the topic. The method used was the qualitative research and field research, where we analyzed the views of students on the practice of sports (volleyball) investigated in Physical Education. Those consisting themes are formal education, formal physical education, volleyball, where he gave an historical approach to this sport through the fundamentals of volleyball, volleyball athlete's profile and volleyball at school. Finalizing this were used semi-structured questionnaires and anedotários that were read, analyzed and coded, so that it could treat the collected data. It was found that, in view of the questioned students, who volleyball should be practiced beyond the theories and rules, and should also include approaches aimed at improving the overall physical condition and health. It is a sport to be developed both at school and contents of a class of physical education.
