RESUMO

Este trabalho que tem por objetivo principal analisar a formação do profissional de hotelaria em São Luís – Ma, frente às exigências do mercado local. Aborda como é o ensino da hotelaria no Brasil, discutindo a qualidade de tal ensino e seu crescimento durante os anos. O forte crescimento do setor hoteleiro exige o aprimoramento do profissional através da formação acadêmica aprimorada, com condições de fornecer um hoteleiro flexível, adaptado, criativo, com poder de percepção, conhecimento inerente à profissão e capacidade de trabalhar em equipe. Com base nisso este trabalho aborda o panorama do Curso de Hotelaria da Universidade Federal do Maranhão, os Cursos de Hospitalidade do SENAC – MA e perfil do profissional hoteleiro de São Luís – Ma. Estudo proposto caracterizado descritivo- exploratório do objeto. Segundo seus objetivos envolve pesquisas bibliográficas realizadas nos meses de outubro e novembro de 2014. Apresenta resultados sobre a formação do profissional de hotelaria em São Luis – MA e a opinião dos discentes sobre tal curso e se está satisfatório de acordo com as exigências do mercado. Este diagnostico possibilita reflexões e propostas baseadas em análises de questionários aplicados com alunos do curso de hotelaria da UFMA, afim de apontar os pontos negativos e positivos do referido curso.
