SUMMARY

Old age is a phase of human life, some elderly at this stage have some dependence, whether due to illness or because of longevity, thus requiring special care at home, requiring the assistance of a family caregiver. At some point in life people will experience the act of caring for someone. Therefore, it is important the collaboration of the whole family and also the Family Health Strategy so that this caregiver feels supported, reducing the overload and stress of their daily lives. The object of this study is the perception of caregivers of the elderly about care in the home environment. The purpose of this study was to collect and analyze the scientific publications about the perception of caregivers of the elderly about home care in the period from 2012 to 2016. Method: bibliographical review, with a view to answer the following question: What has been studied about the perception of caregivers of the elderly about home care? The publications were collected in Lilacs, Scielo, BVS, BDENF, in the period of September and October of 2016. During the collection of data 505 articles were found, of which only 10 corresponded to the criteria of the publication period and the subject matter . The articles used were categorized into two thematic areas: the home caregiver profile; The perception of caregivers of the elderly at home. After reading these articles, it was observed, that the number of people who exercise the role of informal caregiver is increasing, women predominate and the degree of close relatives. The feelings aroused in these caregivers such as anger, fear, impatience, loneliness were well reported in the articles. However, they also express feelings such as compassion, love, gratitude and satisfaction in exercising this role. The nurse has an important role, helping the caregiver through planning and actions that provide support, support, knowledge and skills, with the intention of a better quality of life for the elderly and their caregiver.

1 INTRODUÇÃO

O envelhecimento populacional é um fenômeno global, que vem ocorrendo em todas as regiões e países do mundo e está associada principalmente, à diminuição das taxas de fecundidade (Lima e Costa et al., 2011; Almeida, 2015; IBGE, 2012). O Brasil está em franco processo de envelhecimento, tendo já atravessado as etapas iniciais do processo de transição epidemiológica e mesmo (no caso de algumas áreas de regiões metropolitanas mais desenvolvidas) atingindo seu estágio final. Até a década de 50 ou mesmo 60, as características demográficas do país indicavam uma população bastante jovem, com altas taxas de fertilidade e taxas de mortalidade que apenas começavam a diminuir. A partir de então, teve início um processo de redução das taxas de fecundidade que, nos últimos anos, vem se acelerando (IBGE, 2012; MENDES, 2010).

Para o país como um todo, taxas de fertilidade diminuíram em cerca de 30%, entre 1970 e 1980, diminuição esta, que se verificou em todas as regiões do Brasil, tanto nas zonas urbanas como nas rurais. O índice de envelhecimento se elevou na última década, demonstrando o crescimento do número das pessoas com 60 anos ou mais de idade, em 2001, representava 31,7%, passando para 51,8% em 2011, observa-se que o Brasil vive uma transição demográfica acelerada, na qual o rápido envelhecimento da população significa um crescente incremento nas condições crônicas de saúde, que afetam mais os segmentos
