generating district heating. According to Skanska (2008), district cooling is generated from chillers and cool water from the Baltic Sea.

“The windows are highly insulated to minimise heat loss during cold weather and are tinted to reflect approximately 85 percent of radiation from the sun and reduce solar heat gain.” (SKANSKA, 2008).

2.4 Lighting Systems and Controls

Hagaporten 3 has a glass facade taking advantage of the natural light to illuminate the working environment and also contributing environmentally and saving energy. Also, according to Skanska (2008), was constructed with non-toxic, materials, has a high quality ventilation, furthermore, has sound insulation and minimised electromagnetic radiation levels that contribute to generate a healthy working environment.

Hagaporten 3 also counts with lighting control sensor in spaces not regularly added to low-energy lighting. Furthermore, the building has high speed and energy efficient lifts implanted.

“Glass facades and an inner ‘light’ garden at the centre of the building allow natural light into the building and to all workstations.” (SKANSKA, 2008).

2.9 Waste, Recycling, and Renewable Systems

“Hagaporten 3 is equipped with recycling facilities for office waste, which can be customised to meet specific tenant requirements.” (SKANSKA, 2008)

3 DISCUSSION AND SUMMARY

In conclusion, the Hagaporten 3 is a building designed to be sustainable, using renewable and clean energy sources applying that energy in a smart ways in the whole building. The architectural work presented by the glass facade meets the objective using the natural light inside the building to create an environmental healthy work space. The six floor office building also counts with efficient high speed lifts and power saving lights.

The heating and Cooling systems was designed to be more sustainable which allied to the highly insulated windows, minimise the heat loss, bringing many environmental benefits.
