ABSTRACT

The current final project focuses on the theme of the resocialization of convicts, sociable one more time through the employment of religion, in other words, by the integration of Prison and Church. The bond between the convict and religion becomes necessary for his further insertion back into society. In the first chapter, a historical analysis of the different kinds of imprisonments and its respective distinctive features, especially the preventive detention and the Law nº 12.403/2011. In a following moment of study and research, the Penal Execution Law (Federal law nº 7.210 on 11 July, 1984) was taken into consideration, concerning the guiding principles and main devices regarding the reeducation and resocialization of the prisoner. At last, the resocialization of the prisoner and its main advantages were broached, reaching the religion itself as the prime factor for the imprisoned’s resocialization. By this project, a phenomenon due to the swelling in the prison system was noted. True schools to form criminals are created, increasingly reinforcing the convicted’s negative values, imposing an inversion of society’s distinct values and, as a consequence, rendering the resocialization inefficient.
