Conclusion
My goal with Pure Vida is to tackle all of these problems that will rise up, and find new ways to combat each problem. This is important in order to “keep my head above water” and keep the business going. Taking on each of these problems separately is necessary because if I tried to tackle all of the business problems together, many things may get overlooked. The goal of this strategy is to keep my grandfather’s legacy alive.

Section II
Information Quality
At Pure Vida Nutrition Group, high quality information is important. With the new data system that will be implemented each customer’s information will be recorded, such as their full name, address for shipping needs, phone number for contact, e-mail to update them with sales, and purchase history so we can predict what products they may be interested in. In order for this information to be viable, it needs to be of high quality. This means it needs to be accurate, complete, consistent, timely, and unique, the “Five Common Characteristics of High-Quality Information” (Baltzan). If there is a discrepancy in my data system, the customer may not get the right mail, or if their name is spelled wrong, they may be offended and not come back. The same goes for e-mail. If a customer gets a message that has nothing to do with what they usually buy, they may block our emails because they think it is a scam. If a customer’s information is duplicated somewhere in our system, they may be receiving the same thing multiple times and this may begin to annoy them. Having high quality information is important when running a customer-based nutrition group.
Databases
In our sales database at Pure Vida Nutrition we will have entities, or tables, that will contain the customer’s name, along with their phone number, address, email, and most recent purchase. The first entity will have the customer’s name as the “Primary Key,” and will have “foreign keys” that contain each person’s phone number, address, e-mail, and most recent purchase date (Baltzan). Each attribute in the first entity will have its own entity with the same foreign keys so it will be possible to look a customer up by their phone number, or address. This is important so if a mistake is made in the spelling of a person’s name, there is another way to look that client up.
Data Warehouse
In order to have a functional data warehouse, it is important to know what information should be stored, and what should not. In this warehouse there would be information about suppliers that we buy from, what we have in stock, billing information, information about sales trends, public sales information from competitors, and information about the nutrition industry. This would then be separated into data marts that can be pulled so we do not have to go through every piece of data to locate information (Baltzan). For example, we will have a billing data mart, an inventory data mart, and a customer data mart, to name a few. These collections of information will help Pure Vida Nutrition be able to make decisions about future marking strategies, and possibly what the next big product in the nutrition industry will be.
Conclusion
Having data stored properly is essential for a growing company. Being able to store high quality information and keeping all of that data in a system is necessary. This is so everyone involved in the operation of Pure Vida Nutrition can access it. When information is easily accessible decisions can be made faster, and the whole company can continue to run smoothly.
