And to incentivize those companies the government could save them from some taxes as soon as they start contributing to the place, like investing on the pavement streets, the local schools, bring some cultural events, offer courses to be taken there.

That way things would work smoothly since this could be a great step in their life, ending up theses differences between poor and rich and make a real improvement in our society.

It is known for everyone that we can find a social contrast in some big cities around the World, specially in countries like Brazil that are so huge that they look like continents and since their discovery they have been experiencing the diversity so badly that it has been a part of its identity now. Taking for example Rio de Janeiro where you can go visit the business centre, which is one of the richest areas, and even though you would still have the sight of the favelas, giving you this sensation of inequality. Other cities like São Paulo also brings a proof of all this brazilian diversity in form of gray skyscrapers surrounded by small wooden-made houses. Indeed we have barriers between the poor and the wealthy, although we don’t have walls separating them, it’s crystal clear that the difference between them exists. But would it help the revamping of the poor residential areas if we mix them with the rich ones?

Going straight to the point, in my opinion I would say: no it doesn’t help. You may be thinking “How couldn’t it not help them? It would make things more equal and end this division once for all”. Well at first it sounds reasonable but if you look closer to this situation you would see that maybe even living this close the rich ones wouldn’t mix with the poor ones after all. I’m not considering facts that may scare them like the violence or maybe the gap between their cultures. I’m just saying that the poor areas need more than rich neighbours, they need more infrastructure to support their basic services, they need a real improvement on their lives.

What I think that would really work is to bring the right neighbours closer to these places, like big industries that could hire the local citizens, increasing the number of jobs and given them more independency.
